Update: Star Trek Discovery Expands Season, Sets New Debut Date, Gets Spin-Off Talk Show
Updated May 17, 2017 at 5:41 p.m. EST: CBS is expanding its plans for Star Trek: Discovery and re-establishing its debut date, according to Deadline. The Star Trek prequel's first season has reportedly been expanded from 13 to 15 episodes, with a companion talk show, Talking Trek, also in the mix.
After previous planned debut dates have been nixed, Deadline says that the show is "on track" for a fall launch.
Star Trek: Discovery is scheduled to debut on CBS and then segue to the network's CBS All Access digital service.
Original Story: The first photo from CBS's Star Trek: Discovery has been released ahead of the network' Upfront presentation. The image, given to Entertainment Weekly, shows co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Sonequa Martin-Green as Captain Philippa Georgiou and First Officer Michael Burnham, respectively.
While the show is filming primarily in Toronto, this scene was done in Jordan - as a stand-in for an as-yet-unrevealed planet.
