Christopher Lyon’s current research explores questions around how society can justly address the challenges anthropogenic environmental change. He actively contributes to scholarship on natural resource problems, resilience, environmental governance, agriculture and food systems, and sustainability transformations. Currently based in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences at McGill University, Canada, he is involved in the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada supported ResNet project through the Bennett Lab.
He is also a Visiting Researcher and previously a Research Fellow in the School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds, UK. Here he contributes to the large Global Food Security-funded RePhoKUs project on sustainable phosphorus management and leading the White Rose University Consortium-supported Refugia of Futures Past project on adaptation to post-2100 climate impacts. He completed his PhD in Geography at the University of Dundee, Scotland, in 2017, supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellowship and holds an MSc in Rural Sociology (Alberta), and a BA in International Development Studies (Winnipeg).
