Murderbot - June 4, 2025

Alexander Skarsgård in Murderbot

  • Release Date: June 4, 2025
  • Cast: Alexander Skarsgård, David Dastmalchian, Tamara Podemski

Based on Martha Wells' popular and thrilling The Murderbot Diaries series, Murderbot for Apple Plus will follow the story of a part-human, part-robot who has been designed as a security personnel. But, while it runs under SecUnit, it finds independence, starts to develop friendships, and discovers emotions, all of which intervene directly with Murderbot's overriding desire to complete dangerous missions and, ultimately, be alone.

Starring Alexander Skarsgård as the titular character, Murderbot may well find itself in the great company of the best sci-fi TV shows based on books, given time. There's a lot of story to tell with Wells' series starting with the violent robot's saga in "All Systems Red" and continuing on, to date, with six more books.

Ironheart - June 24, 2025

Marvel's Ironheart

  • Release date: June 24, 2025
  • Cast: Dominique Thorne, Aiden Ehrenreich, Manny Montana, Anthony Ramos

Marvel’s Phase Six is on the way, but we still have to finish Phase Five and that happens with Ironheart. After first appearing in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, this is Riri Williams’ (Dominique Thorne) own spin-off and origin story as she creates her own tech-laden suit similar to that of Iron Man.

So, how did she become Ironheart? Well, season 1 looks set to explore that. In the comics, the genius MIT student uses her skills to build a suit worthy of superhero status. However, where there's triumph, there's also terror; Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) has been confirmed to be taking on the role of dark arts villain, The Hood. It’s a miniseries so we can expect six episodes for this one.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 3) - July 17, 2025

  • Release date: July 17, 2025
  • Cast: Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Christina Chong, Melissa Navia

Star Wars isn't the only 'star' in the sci-fi TV show landscape for 2025, as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is heading into its third season on Paramount Plus.

As with the last two seasons, there'll be ten episodes to look forward to. While it's most certainly on its way this year, due to Hollywood strike delays, season 3 is a little later than first expected.

Strange New Worlds is a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series that follows Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew on the USS Enterprise. Season 2 treated fans to such delights as a full musical episode, a crossover animated episode with 'Lower Decks,' and a classic 'To Be Continued' major cliffhanger finale. We can't wait to see what more Strange New Worlds has to offer.

Eyes of Wakanda - August 6, 2025

Eyes of Wakanda

  • Release date: August 6, 2025
  • Cast: Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Steve Toussaint, Danai Gurira

As part of the MCU’s Phase Six slate, Eyes of Wakanda will be the first TV show entry to land in 2025. This four-part animated miniseries follows Hatut Zaraze, a group of Wakandan warriors who travel the globe collecting vibranium artifacts to return them to Wakanda. Ultimately, it aims to shine a light on the people of Wakanda, the lore, and the stories of their past.

It also marks the first instance of Marvel Animation being based on the MCU’s Earth-616 aka the main timeline. Marvel’s animated efforts to this point have all been set in alternate universes throughout the multiverse. Aside from a little teaser in a Disney Plus look ahead to 2025, there’s not much more info about this show yet.

Alien: Earth - August 12, 2025

  • Release Date: August 12, 2025
  • Cast: Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Alex Lawther, Sydney Chandler

If you're a fan of sci-fi, then the Alien franchise will be no stranger to you. The iconic series began back in 1979 and we’ve seen loads of Alien movies since then. And yet, Alien has never made it to the small screen… until now. Alien: Earth is coming to us via FX and is set two years before the events of the original Alien movie.

It should be interesting to see how the nightmarish creature ends up on Earth before Ripley’s first run-in with it, and how it ties in with the wider franchise storyline. Plot details are light at the moment; there’s only a teaser trailer — which doesn’t show us a lot — and an official plot synopsis, which reads “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”

Gen V season 2 - September 17, 2025

Gen V

  • Release Date: September 17, 2025
  • Cast: Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, Alexander Calvert

Amazon Prime’s monumental success with satirical superhero drama The Boys was followed up with the also excellent spin-off Gen V. The show snuggles itself nicely in between seasons 3 and 4 of The Boys. Gen V is all about young adult Supes who are tackling life as a student and a teen at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting (owned by the morally questionable Vought). Everyone wants to be part of The Seven Elite Superheroes, but earning a space on the team leads down an unethical and mentally challenging path.

Unfortunately, due to the upsetting and untimely death of one of season 1’s stars, Chance Perdomo, production was put on hold, but the show will be coming back with a second season. Though the role of Andre won’t be recast, season 2 has now wrapped production and is expected at some point in 2025. With a huge cliffhanger ending concluding season 1, fans are waiting with bated breath to hear more.

Marvel Zombies - October 3, 2025

Marvel Zombies

  • Release date: October 3, 2025
  • Cast: Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen

Another addition to the MCU Phase Six slate is the animated adventure Marvel Zombies. In 2021 the MCU launched What If…?, a miniseries that follows different anthology tales from the timeline. In one episode titled What If… Zombies?, focus was pulled onto, you guessed it, the Marvel Zombies comic series. That episode was the launchpad for this whole four-episode miniseries that’s coming along later this year.

There are a bunch of MCU roles being reprised including Simu Liu as Xu Shang-Chi, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, Dominique Thorne as Ironheart, and Iman Vallani as Ms. Marvel herself. This ensemble cast stars as a group of survivors who fight against former heroes and villains who are now zombies.

Marvel Zombies — it really does do what it says on the tin.

Wonder Man - December 2025

Wonder Man

  • Release date: December 2025
  • Cast: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris

The 17th TV series from the MCU, Wonder Man stars Simon Williams as the titular Wonder Man (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a superpowered Hollywood actor and stuntperson looking to secure the lead role as Wonder Man in a superhero TV series. It’s a superhero show about a superhero show, which is a pretty novel idea.

The cast list is impressive too, with Ben Kingsley returning as failed actor Trevor Slattery and Ed Harris playing Simon’s agent. There’s also Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, Byron Bowers, and Manny McCord in currently undisclosed roles. Filming wrapped in April 2024, so it looks set to meet its release date.

Neuromancer - TBA 2025 / 2026

Neuromancer

  • Release Date: TBA 2025 / 2026
  • Cast: Callum Turner

Another epic multi-award-winning sci-fi novel turning into a TV show is William Gibson's Neuromancer. The story follows Case, a washed-up, but incredibly excellent hacker who is hired to complete one last job. While Neuromancer has seen adaptations into a graphic novel, 80s video game, and even an opera, Apple TV Plus is finally bringing it to the small screen with a 10-episode run.

We won’t spoil the plot of the book, but Case’s investigation sees him clashing with a powerful AI, high-stakes crime, and a web of digital espionage alongside his partner/assassin, Molly. Callum Turner (Masters of the Air) has been signed up as Case, but that's the only casting announcement thus far.

Blade Runner 2099 - TBA 2025

  • Release Date: TBA 2025
  • Cast: Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh

A live-action sequel TV series to Blade Runner 2049 is in development at Amazon Studios, set 50 years after the movie, and aptly named Blade Runner 2099. In keeping with the rest of the franchise, the show will continue to follow the concept of the "blade runners" — humans who hunt bioengineered humanoids called "replicants".

Not much is known about the plot other than that, but Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) has been confirmed to play a replicant called Olwen, and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) will co-star, although her character details have also been kept under wraps.

Star City - TBA 2025

The space race moves from the moon to Mars in the third season of "For All Mankind" debuting June 10 on Apple TV+.

  • Release Date: TBA, 2025
  • Cast: TBC

Sci-fi mystery thriller For All Mankind has delighted fans with its tales of an alternative world. A world where the Soviet Union beat the US to the Moon, and the space race continues down the road of "what if" and ultimately the repercussions of this twisted reality. While the show has been renewed for a fifth season, a spin-off series, Star City, has also been announced.

For Star City, the show will tell the stories of the cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers serving in the Soviet space program at the home of the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. In an official announcement, showrunners Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert said, "The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race."
