+
Tallest Marvel set to date
+
Incredible details

Reasons to avoid

-
Very expensive
-
Requires a lot of display space
Buy it if:

You can afford it: This is one of the most expensive Lego Marvel sets you can buy, but it's worth every penny.

You like minifigures: With 31 included in the box, it's a collector's dream.

Don't buy it if:

You're short on space: At nearly a meter tall, this thing requires a lot of space.

The bottom line:

🔎 Avengers Tower: This is the tallest Lego Marvel set to date and we've been waiting a long time for such an impressive Avengers Tower. It's well worth the wait in just about every way. ★★★★★

What can we even say about the Lego Marvel Avengers Tower? At nearly a meter tall this thing needs no introduction as it will dominate just about any shelf you place it on. It's going to be a huge talking point for any Marvel fan you invite over once it's built. But before you get there, you've got an epic — and varied and enjoyable — build on your hands.

At $500, this isn't a Lego set you can buy on a whim. It's a serious investment, but the good news is, like the vast majority of other large Lego sets before it, it's going to hold its value. (Just keep the box and instructions, whatever you do!) We think it's worth every penny though, whether you're a collector or a Marvel fan. There's so much to enjoy.

There are tons of little details packed in to the multiple floors of the tower, from Thor's hammer to the Tesseract. If you've seen the Avengers movies, you're going to get a kick out of everything as you build it.

Perhaps our favorite thing about the Lego Marvel Avengers Tower, though, anad one reason we've chosen it as the best Lego Marvel set, is just how many minifigures it includes. There are 31 here, including a host of familiar faces. There's Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, Wanda Maximoff and lots more.

Great comic-book style
+
Hangs on the wall!

Reasons to avoid

-
Can be tricky to hang up
-
A little pricey for the number of pieces
Buy it if:

You're limited on space: Lego that hangs on the wall is one of our favorite things, ever.

You're a comic book nerd: The comic book style here might not appeal to movie lovers quite as much.

Don't buy it if:

You're on a budget: It's not the most expensive set ever, but $200 for just over 2,000 pieces is a little on the steep side.

The bottom line:

🔎 The Amazing Spider-Man: Amazing by name, amazing by nature. It may be a little tricky to get on the wall occasionally but once it does, you've got a fantastic piece of art to enjoy for years to come. ★★★★½

Is there anything more amazing than The Amazing Spider-Man? One of the best Lego Marvel sets you can buy, this is going to appeal to comic book fans more than any other, thanks to its classic comic book aesthetic. This isn't movie Spider-Man, but as long as that's not a problem, you're going to absolutely love this set.

It's fun to build thanks to its unique layering techniques, and having 2,099 pieces means it's not a huge undertaking either. Like Lego's 'Art' range, this one comes with a special soundtrack to listen to on your smartphone as you're building it — it's been tailor-made to enhance the building process.

Once it's finished you might have a little trouble getting it on the wall thanks to its Lego hanging piece, but it's secure enough when it's up there.

We love the colors and the way Spidey pops out of the frame: It's almost as if he's alive! There are some nifty Easter eggs here, too, like the fact that there are 15 spiders crawling off the frame — it's a homage to #15 of "Amazing Fantasy", where Spider-Man first appeared.

Best for Iron Man fans

Lego Hulkbuster

Lego Marvel Hulkbuster

Specifications

Price: $549.99/£474.99
Model number: 76210
Pieces: 4,409
Finished item dimensions: 21 x 19 x 10 inches / 52 x 47 x 24 cm
Recommended age: 18+

Reasons to buy

+
Very detailed build
+
Looks fantastic

Reasons to avoid

-
Extremely expensive
-
Only one minifigure
Buy it if:

You've got money to spend: This is one of the most expensive Lego sets you can buy — although it has been heavily discounted before.

You enjoy challenging builds: With 4,409 pieces, this isn't a build for the faint-hearted

Don't buy it if:

You're wanting minifigures: Sadly, there's only one included in the set (Iron Man).

The bottom line:

🔎 Hulkbuster: A formidable Lego set, Hulkbuster looks absolutely fantastic when he's built. This is an extremely expensive set though, so it's not for casual builders. ★★★½

Once you get over the eye-watering price, it's hard not to be impressed by Lego's Hulkbuster. This isn't the first Hulkbuster we've had of course: We've had a number of smaller ones over the years, but nothing on the scale of this behemoth. Is bigger better? Perhaps not always, but in this case, we think it's safe to say yes — no other Hulkbuster comes close.

In terms of the build, this isn't a Lego set you should undertake as an beginner. Serious Lego builders only, thanks to lots of complex sections and an eye-watering piece count.

When it's built, the Lego Marvel Hulkbuster looks absolutely fantastic. It's hugely imposing, however, so you're going to need a lot of space to display this. At 21 inches tall and 19 inches wide, you'll need a big (and strong) shelf or an empty side table to place it on. It's going to look great wherever you put it, though.

We cannot overlook that price though, and we have to wonder if it's worth the asking price. Had it been a little more reasonable we'd have rated this one higher. But as it is, we're just not sure we can comfortably spend so much on one Lego model.

Best for X-Men fans

The Lego Marvel X-Mansion with minifigures on display

Lego Marvel X-Men The X-Mansion

Specifications

Price: $329.99/£289.99
Model number: 76294
Pieces: 3,093
Finished item dimensions: 10.5 x 16 x 10 inches / 27 x 40 x 25cm
Recommended age: 18+

Reasons to buy

+
Great selection of minifigures
+
Modular design makes for a fun build
+
Lots of details

Reasons to avoid

-
Not the most detailed building exterior
-
Lots of stickers
Buy it if:

You like Lego's Modular sets: This set been designed so it can sit alongside Lego's Modular range (Boutique Hotel, Natural History Museum, etc.)

You like minifigures: With 10 included here, it's a great set to bulk up your minifig collection.

Don't buy it if:

You're on a budget: At $330, this is a very expensive set for serious Lego enthusiasts only.

The bottom line:

🔎 The X-Mansion: We think the exterior of the mansion could look a little more impressive, but the interior details make up for it. It's a very fun build with lots of variety — just a shame about the stickers. ★★★★

The newest set on this list of best Lego Marvel sets just happens to be one of the biggest. Lego Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion is based on the animated X-Men series from 1997, giving it plenty of color and personality. There's no denying this is a fantastic set for X-Men fans, even with a few little niggles.

We can't help but think that the front of the mansion could be a bit more detailed — but since it's based on how the mansion looks in the animated series, it's not all that surprising. It's inside the building where the personality of this set really shines though: packed with multiple rooms and tons of Easter eggs for X-men fans, simply taking everything in is an utter delight.

There's a Danger Room for training, for example, and classrooms and a library for your heroes in training to sharpen their skills. You can even recreate the popular Wolverine Crush meme, which we think is a hilarious touch.

This is a pricey set, however, costing $329.99, and with measurements of 10.5 x 16 x 10 inches, you're going to need a lot of space to display it. Providing you've got the budget and display space, though, it's hard to be disappointed with this offering from Lego — even accounting for the annoying stickers included in the build.

Best for Guardians of the Galaxy fans

Lego Marvel Rocket and Baby Groot

Specifications

Price: $59.99/£54.99
Model number: 76282
Pieces: 566
Finished item dimensions: 8.5 inches/22cm tall
Recommended age: 10+

Reasons to buy

+
Fun model
+
Poseable features
+
Baby Groot minifigure is adorable!

Reasons to avoid

-
Some sections are tricky to build
Buy it if:

You're a Rocket fan: Rocket Raccoon hasn't had his moment to shine in Lego, until now!

You don't want to break the bank: This set is a steal for $60, and we've frequently seen it discounted, too.

Don't buy it if:

You don't like fiddly builds: With lots of small pieces, Rocket is a challenging build, so might not be the best for total Lego beginners.

The bottom line:

🔎 Rocket & Baby Groot: An adorable (if a little freaky) recreation of Rocket Raccoon - complete with a Baby Groot minifigure. With poseable features, it's a great set for display. ★★★★

One of the newer Lego Marvel sets to feature on this list, Rocket & Baby Groot sits in that sweet spot between pocket-money sets and the more expensive adult builds. At $59.99, we think it offers great value, and being aimed at builders aged 10 and over, it's not too complex that kids won't be able to enjoy putting it together.

That said, it does have some fiddly sections, thanks to Rocket's posable limbs, so we perhaps wouldn't recommend this set for complete Lego beginners. As long as you've put a few sets together before, though, we don't think you'll have too much problem.

Rocket's no slouch: This set is 8.5 inches tall, so makes a great display piece. Its moving parts make it useable as an action figure for younger fans, too, although we'd advise using caution as it's not the most stable build in the world.

There's only one minifigure included here - an adorable Baby Groot. It's designed to sit on Rocket's shoulder, and so there's a dedicated space for it to attach. We'd have liked to see a Rocket minifigure for display purposes too, but it's certainly not a dealbreaker.

Best for Avengers fans

Lego Marvel Endgame Final Battle

Specifications

Price: $99.99/£94.99
Model number: 76266
Pieces: 794
Finished item dimensions: 11.5 x 8 x 8 inches / 30 x 21 x 21cm
Recommended age: 10+

Reasons to buy

+
Great selection of minifigures
+
A fun build

Reasons to avoid

-
Expensive considering its piece count
Buy it if:

You like minifigures and 'big figs': There are seven figures included in this set, including a Thanos big fig.

You're a fan of the MCU: It's a recreation of the final battle from Avengers Endgame, with lots of nods to the movie.

Don't buy it if:

You want the best value for your money: It's not the cheapest set, from a per-piece perspective.

The bottom line:

🔎 Endgame Final Battle: A fun design that's brought to life with its minifigures, there's a lot to like with this set — but it's a little on the pricey side considering its piece count. ★★★★

It's a fairly expensive set for what it is — $100 for 794 pieces isn't exactly great value. But it's the minifigures you're paying for here, if anything: There are seven figures, including a large 'big fig' of Thanos. Also included are Captain Marvel, Okoye, Wanda Maximoff, Shuri, Valkyrie and The Wasp. It's an excellent selection, and lots of minifigures we don't frequently see, making it a great choice for collectors.

But there's more to like than just the minifigures. This set recreates the final battle from Avengers: Endgame, so if you're a movie fan you'll appreciate lots of little details included in the set.

Hidden surprises include Captain America's shield, the time stone, a rat that can open portals and Thor's hammer. These little touches really bring the set to life, especially for kids who'll be using it as a playset.

We like it even as a display piece, though. Its non-standard shape really catches the eye, and Lego designers have done a great job of capturing the look and feel of chaos and destruction.

We'd perhaps recommend waiting for a sale on this one, though. While the minifigures do offer good value (big figs alone tend to be worth $15-$20), a 20% or so discount will make this set a much more tempting offer.

Best for minifigures

Lego Marvel Daily Bugle 76178

Lego Marvel Daily Bugle

Specifications

Price: $349.99/£264.99
Model number: 76178
Pieces: 3,772
Finished item dimensions: 32 x 10.5 x 10.5 inches / 82 x 27 x 27 cm
Recommended age: 18+

Reasons to buy

+
It's huge!
+
Comes with an incredible 25 minifigures
+
Packs in so much detail

Reasons to avoid

-
Its size can make it difficult to display
-
Lots of repetitive sections in the build
Buy it if:

You're a big fan of the MCU: The minifigures here cover a wide range of Marvel characters, so fans are going to love them

You relish big, time-consuming builds: With 3,772 pieces, this is a huge build to really lose yourself in.

Don't buy it if:

You are restricted by budget: At $349.99, this is an expensive Lego set so it's not one to be bought lightly.

The bottom line:

🔎 Daily Bugle: Huge, imposing and absolutely packed with fantastic minifigures, there's so much to love about the Daily Bugle. The size and price means it's only for serious Lego fans, but it's a fantastic build and looks even better when finished. ★★★★★

At $350, the Lego Marvel Daily Bugle isn't a purchase to make lightly — but do it, and it's one you're most likely not going to be disappointed with. It measures over 32 inches (82cm) tall, making it tower over most other Lego sets. It's quite the imposing model, then, but it looks absolutely fantastic.

There are four storeys in the Daily Bugle, each one is filled with lots of fun little details. Whether you're a comic book or movie fan, you'll find little Easter eggs to make you chuckle, all nestled between the usual office equipment like desks, photocopiers and computers. The walls can be removed, too, so you can peer into any floor whenever you feel like it.

On the outside, the Daily Bugle is filled with life thanks to its impressive glass front, eye-catching fire escape and attention-grabbing signage atop the building. There's also a traditional New York City taxi cab to give the building a sense of presence within the bustling city.

The best thing, though? All the minifigures: There are 25 of them here. It's been beaten by the Avengers Tower recently, but it's still a huge number of minifigs, and there are some fantastic characters here. Including Spider-Ham, Gwen, Mysterio, Venom, Carnage, Dr. Octopus, The Punisher, and more, it really is the ultimate collection for Spider-Man fans.

Fits in with other Lego 'Modular' sets

Reasons to avoid

-
Loads of stickers
Buy it if:

You have a Lego modular collection: The Sanctum Sanctorum can slot right in next to the Parisian café, Natural History Museum or any of the others.

You love details: You'll find all kinds of Easter eggs and neat little touches inside the building.

Don't buy it if:

You hate stickers: There are a lot of stickers used throughout the build, unfortunately.

The bottom line:

🔎 Sanctum Sanctorum: One of our favorite Lego Marvel sets, there's so much to love about Sanctum Sanctorum, from its intricate architecture to the fabulous details. Even all the stickers can't quite put us off. ★★★★★

This 2,708 piece model of Doctor Strange's iconic Sanctum Sanctorum is just delightful. So delightful, in fact, that we'd possibly even say it's one of our favorite Lego Marvel sets, just missing out on the top spot due to the recent release of the Avengers Tower.

That said, Sanctum Sanctorum is half the price of the Avengers Tower, and still packs in a wonderful amount of detail and some fantastic minifigures. There are nine here, including Doctor Strange himself, Iron Man, Spider-Man and plenty others. Each one of them comes with various authentic accessories, and can be posed in numerous ways across the grand house.

Across the three floors of Sanctum Sanctorum, you'll get to enjoy lots of details. There are hidden portals, bookcases, weird and wonderful trinkets — and even the odd tentacled monster. Lego really have gone all out when it comes to designing the interior of this set: It's clear they've had a lot of fun with it.

What's particularly cool is that if you own any of Lego's other Modular sets (like the Boutique Hotel or Police Station), the Sanctum Sanctorum can fit right alongside them, looking like an inconspicuous building on a street. Just like the real thing. Yes, it's a pricey set, but if you have $250 to spend on a Lego set, you won't regret choosing this one.

Best set under $100

Lego Marvel Infinity Gauntlet 76191

Lego Marvel Infinity Gauntlet

Specifications

Price: $79.99/£69.99
Model number: 76191
Pieces: 590
Finished item dimensions: 12.5 x 5 x 4 inches / 31 x 13 x 11 cm
Recommended age: 18+

Reasons to buy

+
Lots of gold bricks
+
Posable fingers

Reasons to avoid

-
A little pricey
Buy it if:

You're on a budget: This is a reasonably priced set, but still looks fantastic.

You want a display set: With a built-in stand and made up of rare and attractive 'gold' bricks, this is a display set through-and-through.

Don't buy it if:

You're looking for a huge set: This is a modestly-sized set, about the size of an average hand, so it won't take up a lot of space.

The bottom line:

🔎 Infinity Gauntlet: The Infinity Gauntlet is an iconic piece of Avengers lore, and this Lego set is just as iconic, thanks to its sea of golden bricks. ★★★★

The Lego Marvel Infinity Gauntlet stands out thanks to the sheer amount of gold bricks used in its construction. They’re typically quite rare in Lego sets, and so the number of them here makes this set an attractive purchase for Lego collectors, regardless of how they feel about Marvel.

However, if you are a Marvel fan, you hopefully won’t be disappointed with this replica Infinity Gauntlet, either. The set looks fantastic when finished, with each finger bejeweled with one of the infinity stones.

It comes on a display stand, making it look great on any shelf or desk, but our favorite thing is that the digits on the gauntlet are poseable. We shouldn’t suggest you make lewd hand gestures, but that’s a thing you can do if you feel so inclined.

The price tag feels a little high at $79.99, considering there’s only 590 pieces in the set, but the finished model feels adequately detailed. It's worth the asking price in gold bricks alone for a collector, so that's certainly something to keep in mind.

Best set under $50

Lego Marvel Venomized Groot

Specifications

Price: $49.99/£46.99
Model number: 76249
Pieces: 630
Finished item dimensions: 11 inches/27cm tall
Recommended age: 10+

Reasons to buy

+
Can be built in one of two ways
+
Really fun-loving set
+
Poseable limbs

Reasons to avoid

-
Uses some stickers throughout
Buy it if:

You're on a budget: This set is fantastic value for $49.99.

You like poseable models: With joints in its arms and legs, Groot can be posed in a number of ways.

Don't buy it if:

You've already got Lego Groot: A non-Venomized Groot is available from Lego, too, and the sets are very similar.

The bottom line:

🔎 Venomized Groot: Cheap and utterly delightful, we love Venomized Groot. Our favorite thing is that the set can be built in one of two ways, adding even more value. ★★★★½

$49.99 doesn't sound like a bargain, but in the world of Lego, it pretty much is. You're getting a lot of Lego here for the price, being that Venomized Groot is made up of 630 pieces. You won't necessarily use them all, though: Groot can be built in one of two ways. One is half-Groot, half-Venom; the other is primarily Venom.

With poseable limbs, you can stand Groot in a number of ways and his arms can move too. With these joints, however, he can be a little fiddly to build so you'll want to be delicate and take care.

There are a lot of cool little touches here, like the Venom 'mouths' coming off Groot. And if you choose to built the half-and-half model, you'll get to enjoy his face having one Groot eye and one Venom eye. A seriously nice touch.

The main downside? Lego Marvel Venomized Groot contains a fair few stickers, some of which go on Groot's face. It's annoying, but forgivable — especially at this price point.

Lego Marvel Team Spidey Web Spinner Headquarters

Specifications

Price: $54.99/£49.99

Reasons to avoid

-
Extremely simple
-
Pricey
Buy it if:

You're shopping for young children: This set has a 4+ rating, meaning it's super simple for the youngest builders.

You love fun designs: It might not exactly be realistic, but it's a set that exudes fun.

Don't buy it if:

You want good value for money: 4+ sets tend to have fewer but bigger pieces, which pushes the price upwards.

The bottom line:

🔎 Team Spidey Web Spinner Headquarters: A delightful, colorful set for the youngest builders. It's not exactly based on movies or comics and it's a little on the pricey side, but kids will love it. ★★★½

While the bright, bold colors and shapes of Lego Marvel Team Spidey Web Spinner Headquarters are undoubtedly eye-catching, be warned that this is a very basic set. This isn't one for adult builders: It carries Lego's 4+ rating, meaning it's designed with the youngest builders in mind. It's basically the first step up from Duplo.

Like all sets in the 4+ range, its pieces are larger than your typical Lego set, making for easier building and more straightforward instructions. As such, there's only 193 pieces in this set, which for $54.99 sounds very expensive.

You are getting a good amount of fun for your buck, though. We love the colors here, and there's a great selection of minifigures. You'll find Spider-Man, Iron Man, Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider and Zola as part of the set. Zola even has a large mech that she can sit in, which is particularly cool.

The whole set is based around a simple but fun "headquarters build", which is laden with fun accessories and topped off with a large, printed Spider-Man head — undoubtedly the star of the whole set.

Lego Marvel frequently asked questions

What is the most expensive Lego Marvel set?

The most expensive Lego Marvel set based on its RRP is the Lego Marvel Hulkbuster, which retails for $549.99. However, it's frequently reduced by up to 20%, so you may be able to pick it up cheaper. The much newer Lego Marvel Avengers tower, however, which retails for $499.99, has yet to receive any kind of discount.

What is the biggest Lego Marvel set?

The biggest Lego Marvel set you can currently buy is the Lego Marvel Avengers Tower. It's a relatively new release, coming out in late 2023. It's made up of a whopping 5,201 pieces, which puts it more than a thousand pieces ahead of its nearest competition (the Hulkbuster).

By comparison, the biggest Lego set ever in terms of pieces is 2021's now-retired World Map, which has 11,695.

What is the best Lego Marvel set?

We think the best Lego Marvel set is the Lego Marvel Avengers Tower. It released in late 2023 and is made of 5,201 pieces. In other words, it's huge! However, it's a subjective question and other people may prefer other Lego Marvel sets. We also love the Sanctum Sanctorum and the Daily Bugle.

When do Lego Marvel sets retire?

Lego retires its stock on a regular, rotating basis. There's no hard and fast rule: When a set retires, it generally depends on how popular it has been, and how much value Lego finds in repeat productions. Typically, a set will stay on shelves for anywhere between 12-24 months, but it could be longer (or shorter).

Sets that are retiring soon will appear on the Lego website with a "last chance" banner. You can also visit the Last Chance to Buy section of Lego's website to check what's about to be taken off shelves.
